Negotiators for Reynoldsburg teachers and the board of education will resume contract talks next month. The two sides will meet September 5th with a federal mediator. Teacher negotiators rejected a board offer in June that called for elimination of group health care coverage and adoption of merit pay in place of scheduled step increases in annual salaries. Earlier this month the union membership authorized their leaders to call a strike. But, a strike notice was never filed and teachers returned to the classroom under terms of an expired contract. The Reynoldsburg Education Association represents 350 teachers.
