Ohio Attorney General To Monitor Bottled Water Prices In Toledo

Ohio investigators are monitoring bottled water prices in the Toledo area after possible price-gouging complaints. Residents have been scrambling for water for drinking, cooking and bathing after officials in the state's fourth-largest city issued a water warning on Saturday. The mayor lifted the water ban Monday and said the drinking water is safe. Attorney General Mike DeWine says he's sending representatives to review water prices. He's encouraging consumers who believe they paid too much for bottled water to contact his office. DeWine spokesman Dan Tierney says the office received several dozen complaints over social media this weekend of bottled water cases being sold at more than three times the typical price. Ohio does not have a statute that deals directly with price gouging, but state law bans unconscionable sales practices.
