Campus police are investigating a report of a possible shooting at an Ohio University residence hall. University spokeswomen say officers were checking on a report of a possible shooting Tuesday afternoon at the Athens campus in southeastern Ohio. Spokeswoman Stephanie Filson said no victim has been identified yet, but police are sweeping Gamertsfelder Hall. She said the hall does house summer session students. The university has alerted students to evacuate the area. The residence hall on the university's East Green can accommodate more than 250 residents. Athens Police Chief Thomas Pyle says his officers are assisting university police in investigating what he calls "an alleged shooting" on campus. He says it's not confirmed and he has not heard of any injuries. The campus is about 65 miles southeast of Columbus.
