Some universities are making an extra effort to welcome international students to the United States with the help of an airport in Columbus. Ohio State University in Columbus and Ohio University in Athens are greeting new international students arriving in Ohio through welcome areas provided at the Port Columbus International Airport. The schools also are offering free shuttle rides from the airport to the universities. Ohio State began its new welcome effort last week and will continue through Aug. 20. Ohio University says it has provided the airport welcome service since 2008 and is offering it again this week. University personnel and others are on hand to greet the students and provide them with information. They help connect the students to the shuttle rides that are available three times a day.
