Muirfield Village Golf Club has decided to install a temporary fence for the Presidentâs cup this fall instead of a permanent fence it was considering. Muirfield homeowners got what many would say is good news from the homeowners association and the golf club. As described in an email, the fence will be the âblack, metal and five feet tall...and see-through.â? Muirfield residents can pay for a so-called âgate cutâ? that will give them access to the golf course from their yards. Homeowners association general manager Walter Zeier said a temporary fence is a better fit for the neighborhood. âA lot of people were very upset and there was a lot of misinformation out there, and I just want to thank the tournament, the golf club and the residents for being able to work together and come out with a solution I think is in everybodyâs best interest. And at the end of the day I think itâs a win-win for everybody.â? Zeier expects the temporary fence to go up sometime in mid- to late-summer. The fence will be used for future Memorial Tournaments. The possibility of a permanent fence sparked outrage from residents. Many residents signed an on-line petition and a Facebook page railing against the proposal.
