Central Ohio GOP Congressman Weighs Budget Possibilities

U.S. Republican Congressman Pat Tiberi of Genoa Township Monday said there's "an opportunity" for democrats and republicans on Capitol Hill to reach a budget compromise. Tiberi says competing budget proposals could be passed later this week in the senate and house. "We're going to pass ours this week. The senate may pass theirs this week, or maybe not, I don't know. But, unfortunately even if we get them passed then we have to reconcile the differences. That will be a challenge." Tiberi serves on the powerful Ways and Means committee in the house. He called President Obama's visits to Capitol Hill last week, "helpful." Congressional democrats and republicans remain divided on possible uses for any new revenue in federal budget proposals. "So. there's got to be a compromise. We've got to work together. It can't be one way. It's got to be balanced." Tiberi is serving his seventh term in congress. He represents northern and eastern suburbs of Columbus.
