Unemployment And Workforce Shrank In December

There's some mixed news on Ohio's labor front today. The latest unemployment data from the state shows a 6.7 percent unemployment rate in December, down slightly from 6 point 8 percent in November. The state's official unemployment rate comes from a survey of workers. A separate survey of Ohio employers last month shows while the official jobless rate dropped, the statewide workforce shrank by 9,400 employees. The total number of unemployed Ohioans has decreased by 70 thousand during the past 12 months. Ohio’s unemployment rate remains much better than the national average, which was 7.8 percent in December.
