Ohio Troopers Will Work Overtime In Bid To Reduce Drunk Driving

With the New Year Holiday this week-end, the Ohio Highway Patrol says it will again work its troopers overtime to combat drunk driving. Lieutenant Anne Ralston says with a successful anti-drunk driving enforcement, Ohio could set a record low this year for the number of traffic fatalities. Ralston tells WOSU News Ohio highways will be constantly patrolled during a week-end when alcohol consumption increases. Ralston says in 2009 Ohio recorded 1,022 highway fatalities. So far, this year, the patrol counts 1,010 highway deaths. In addition to the enforcement effort, the U-S Department of Transportation is running anti-drunk driving public service announcements nationwide.
