Report: Oil And Gas Companies Spent Millions On Ohio Lobbying

A report from a national government watchdog group says oil and gas producers have spent nearly $3 million on lobbying and campaign contributions in Ohio over the last decade. Governor John Kasich benefited the most with more than $213,000 in contributions, followed by former Gov. Ted Strickland at $87,450, and Secretary of State Jon Husted with $84,750. The report comes from Common Cause, a left-leaning national nonprofit focusing on money and ethics in government. A Kasich spokesman says gas drilling is expected to create 200,000 jobs over the next four years and the governor has warned gas companies to play by Ohio's environmental rules.
