Ohio voters Tuesday sorted out some statewide contests for elective offices approved a jobs program and a change of address for a proposed Columbus casino.
Democrats selected Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher as their candidate to take on former GOP Congressman Rob Portman in the fall race to replace retiring Senator George Voinovich. Fisher easily defeated Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner in yesterday's Democratic primary.
On the republican ballot, GOP voters have chosen Delaware County prosecutor David Yost to run for state auditor in the fall against Democrat David Pepper. State Senator Jon Husted has been picked as the Republican secretary of state nominee to face Democrat Maryellen O'Shaughnessy.
Voters also easily passed two constitutional amemndments. One to boost efforts to attract high tech jobs and another to allow the move of a proposed Columbus casino from the Arena District to the west side. Ohio Public Radio's Bill Cohen has that story.
