Ohio Senate President Questions Affordability of Passenger Rail

Saying he has concerns about whether Ohio can afford passenger rail, Senate President Bill Harris has requested additional information on the proposed 3-C rail project to connect Cleveland, Columbus & Cincinnati.

In a letter to Gov. Ted Strickland, Harris cited what he calls "the tenuous structure of our state budget."

Harris says only four trains will run each day, and their average speed will be only 39 MPH.

Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation say they are working on a response to the several questions asked by Harris.
