Casino Developers Visit with Governor, Legislative Leaders

The developers behind the casino ballot issue approved by voters met Tuesday with the governor and legislative leaders.

House speaker Armond Budish favored casinos, but Governor Ted Strickland and Senate President Bill Harris opposed the ballot measure.

Penn National is the developer of casinos in Columbus and Toledo. President Tim Wilmot says a regulatory body must be established first to do background checks and license everyone involved with the casinos before casino operators pay $50 million per site to the state.

Wilmot says they expect to have "something" up and running in the "2012 time frame."
