Ohio Department of Health Swine Flu/H1N1 Virus Update

The Ohio Department of Health is encouraging Ohioans to remain viligant as it relates to the swine flu.

Ohio has 34 confirmed cases including 12 in Franklin County.

The agency has cut back on testing for the H1N1 virus. The Ohio Department of Health's Barbara Bradley says they're just trying to make the best use of their resources, "budgetary concerns certainly come into anything that we do in public health. They are not the exclusive reason that we decided to cut back on testing."

There have been seven cases related to Ohio State University. According to Bradley, there's no real explanation for the OSU swine flu cluster, "as we've looked at the cases from The Ohio State University, we have not found epidemiological links except two cases were in the same dormitory, but not indicating close contact."

The most recent cases of swine flu in Franklin County involve an 11-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl.
