Crash with School Bus Kills Two in SUV

Police say two people were killed and five injured when a Nissan Murano collided with a school bus this morning in northwest Columbus.

The victims were riding in the Murano which landed on its top against a light pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. Sgt. Sheila Wilson says three students on the bus received minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals. The bus driver was also injured and taken to a hospital for observation. The driver of a third vehicle involved in the crash also received injuries. The accident occurred just after 8:00 this morning at the intersection of West Henderson and Olentangy River Roads. The impact of the collision tore apart the front of the bus, sent the hood onto the pavement and twisted the bus door. A Columbus City Schools spokesman says the bus was carrying students to Centennial High School. Sgt. Wilson says police have taken measurements and pictures and talked with witnesses. They will now try to determine what happened.
