Poll: Ohioans oppose benefits, privileges for illegal immigrants

A new poll finds most Ohio voters oppose government health benefits, schooling and driving privileges for illegal immigrants.

More than eight out of ten favor tougher penalties for illegal immigrants and are against offering them driver's licenses or government health and welfare benefits.

Also in the Quinnipiac University survey, 61% said the children of illegal immigrants should not be allowed to attend public schools. About the same percentage said a wall should be built between the U.S. and Mexico.

More than 1,200 Ohio voters were polled by telephone between Tuesday of last week and this past Sunday.
