Ohio State University has a new president this morning - albeit an interim one. Business school dean Joseph Alutto is serving as interim president until a permanent successor to Karen Holbrook is chosen.
Wosu's Mike Thompson last week interviewed Joe Alutto about his new role.
Alutto says he does not plan major changes. He says he wants to continue the work of Brit Kirwin and Karen Holbrook did to advance the university's academic plan.
Alutto says he would like to see the university increase its profile as an international educational resource.
He says one of his main goals is providing higher education access to students - by giving them both the financial resources to attend college and the skills needed to succeed in college.
Because of his new position, Alutto is no longer on the search committee for the new OSU president.
He says the search committee is not stalled, but being deliberate. He says he has no idea how long he will serve as interim president.
When asked if he wants the job permanently, he said, "that's not my issue, the trustees have to deal with that issue."
