Lawmaker Voted State Party Deputy

State Representative Kevin DeWine has been voted the Ohio Republican Party's deputy chairman. The vote positions him to take over the state G.O.P when current chairman Bob Bennett steps down after next year's presidential election.

DeWine cannot run for re-election to the House because of term limits. He says that he will not seek elective office again. DeWine told the members of the party's State and Central Committee before the vote Friday that he's not planning to use the position as a steppingstone.

Ohio G-O-P Chairman Bob Bennett has said he wanted a deputy to groom to take over the state party.
