State auditor Mary Taylor has released an audit critical of the Columbus Public Schools. The audit indicates the Columbus Public Schools cannot account for $3.7-million dollars in missing furniture and equipment.
The audit also questions the spending of more than $2.8 million in federal grant funds.
The audit accuses school district employees of not following a policy that tracks the movement of equipment and furniture from department to department.
The audit also says the district must increase oversight and accountability in the management of federal grants.
School officials plan an afternoon news conference to discuss the findings.
