More than 800 central Ohioans from 92 countries took the Oath of Allegiance this morning and became U-S citizens. The O-S-U Spring Pep Band played and family and friends looked on as eight-hundred-and-eight Columbus area residents were sworn in as U-S citizens. The ceremony in Value City Arena is part of the U-S Citizenship and Immigration Services effort to reduce the wait for immigration benefits. U-S-C-I-S District Director Mark Hansen says it's the largest citizenship ceremony ever held in Ohio. Some of the new citizens appeared relieved and nearly all expressed expressed happiness and joy upon receiving their certificates of citizenship.
