Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, city council members and other city leaders today expressed displeasure with a portion of the conceal carry law now in effect.
Coleman says the children playing in city parks may be in danger. The mayor and a host of other city officials say the new law allows people to carry hidden guns in public parks, pools, bike trails and other outdoor facilities.
The law, allows people who have a permit to carry concealed firearms---but the law includes a provision allowing private business owners to post signs prohibiting those with concealed firearms on or in their property.
According to Coleman, the law takes away the city's power to keep guns out of public spaces. He wants an amendment to the current law.
