The city of Columbus Monday filed a lawsuit against the Akron-based engineering firm which designed the luminated arches in the Short North.
In addition to E.G.&E., city attorney Richard Pfeiffer also names an Orlando, Florida company that helped manufacture the system and a Chicago insurance company that covered the project.
The city attorney plans to ask Columbus Cty Council members to approve hiring and electrical engineering expert to help the city prepare the litigation.
In the meantime the arches which were installed in December, 2002, have not worked properly since the first weeks after their installation.
