A new study shows a boost in economic activity in communities along the Great Lakes Corridor where Great Lakes Restoration Initiative projects took place.
The Great Lakes Commission along with the Council of Great Lakes Industries coordinated the study. The report shows for every dollar spent on GLRI projects, an additional $3.35 will be generated through 2036. The federal government spent about $1.4 billion on GLRI projects from 2010 to 2016.
The study also estimates, there was an overall increase of $900 million in home values in Great Lakes coastal communities.
