"Bike Vessel" Documentary Screening/Indie Lens Pop-Up

"Bike Vessel" Documentary Screening/Indie Lens Pop-Up
Indie Lens Pop-Up, presented by ITVS, INDEPENDENT LENS, and WOSU Public Media in partnership with Maroon Arts Group will host an advanced* screening of “Bike Vessel” on Thursday March 6, 2025 beginning at 6:00 PM.
Please join us for the film (run time ~60 mins), followed by a Q&A with the Founders of the Columbus chapter of the Major Taylor Cycling Club. Columbus' chapter is the first of the many clubs who take their title from namesake, Marshall Walter “Major Taylor,” who in 1899, became the first African American World Champion in Cycling.
About the Film: Knowing his dad miraculously recovered from three open-heart surgeries after discovering a passion for cycling, filmmaker Eric D. Seals proposes an ambitious idea: Bike together from St. Louis to Chicago. 350 miles. 4 days. On their journey, the two push each other as they find a deeper connection and a renewed appreciation of their quests for their own health and to reimagine Black health.
About the Venue: In 2021, Maroon Arts Group embarked on a labor of love to preserve a significant piece of heritage by beginning the purchase for the historic Pythian Temple & Theatre in Columbus' Bronzeville neighborhood. This endeavor was about more than just maintaining a space; it was about ensuring that Black cultural expression continues to thrive in our community.
