Reynoldsburg City Schools began its second week with an altered bus schedule and some of its students learning from home due to fewer available drivers.
16 Reynoldsburg bus drivers were out Monday, many of them out because of COVID-19.
As a result, the district's high school and preschool students will be learning remotely through the end of the week.
Chris Reed, director of business for Reynoldsburg City Schools, said the district's staffing issues are unprecedented.
"The community needs to know we're doing absolutely everything to get as many kids to school as possible," Reed said. "Would we love to be all grades in buildings today? We would love that. But right now, that's not where we can be."
The school district held a transportation job fair on Monday to recruit more staff. Reed said the district would like to hire up to 10 new bus drivers.

Drivers do not need a commercial driver's license to start; the district will pay drivers while they attain their CDLs.
For someone with no prior experience, the district's starting pay for bus drivers is $19.13 an hour.
