The Coronavirus pandemic has put a stop not only to Columbus’s concert life, but also to symphonies, dance, theater and opera companies the world over. Auditoriums are shuttered. Performing artists are unemployed. The economic devastation will not spare the performing arts or artists, and the loss of a life in the arts deprives audiences who are in great need of Joy.

Music in Mid-Ohio can’t solve the world’s problems. But Classical 101's weekly program spotlighting the performing arts in central Ohio returns this Sunday at 1 pm, anyway.

I’ve said before, nothing stops the music on Classical 101.

Each year it’s a pleasure to select among the many fine concerts given in our listening area for broadcast. Music in Mid-Ohio brings you performances from the Ohio Theater, the Southern Theater, churches, colleges, downtown venues and out of town locations. You’ll hear chamber music, opera, symphonies, choral music, and guest presentations from jazz orchestras to Estonian choirs.

Columbus has long had a rich concert life, and Music in Mid-Ohio is lucky to present the artists living in this community, and our many visitors.

What to do when concerts are cancelled? Stay home and listen to Classical 101!

Here’s the schedule for July. Join me Sunday afternoons at 1. Many of these performances have never before aired.
