Columbus International Children's Choir Celebrates The Season

facebook.com/CICChoir
The Columbus International Children's Choir performs during the 2016 winter concert.

The Columbus International Children's Choir presents its annual winter concert – featuring students ages 4 to 18 in a wide-ranging musical program – at 6 p.m. this Sunday in Worthington United Methodist Church. I am privileged to be the emcee for the performance.

The Creative Notes ensemble comprises children ages 5 to 6, though there are a few 4-year-olds. They will open the program with a children's song from Japan, a French/Cajun lullaby and a song that's a Caribbean circle game from Trinidad and Tobago.

Throughout the evening, six different CICC ensembles will perform music for Christmas and Hannukah alongside seasonal favorites – and even a few songs that, while not specifically holiday music, are just great fun.

The evening concludes with Vocalise, the competing and touring choir. This year, Vocalise won two golds at the World Choir Games in South Africa – in the youth choirs and sacred music categories.

The adult choir will then join Vocalise to round out the winter concert.

The award-winning Columbus International Children's Choir is part of the Columbus Music and Art Academy. They have sung at the White House, The Vatican, Carnegie Hall and many, many other amazing venues – a testament to the talent these youngsters have.

Here's a little sneak preview. Columbus International Children's Choir performs "Funny Fugue" by Vladimir Shainsky at 2014 World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia.
