Upon discovering 2Cellos, you might be tempted to consider the duo a one-trick pony. They are well-known for performing powerful arrangements of songs by artists ranging from Michael Jackson, Avicii and Mumford & Sons to Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.
But they play sold-out houses of all ages around the globe, and for good reason—they can flat-out play. I watched the duo's sound check when they were in Columbus and FELT their music as much as I heard it while standing in the BACK of the house.
2Cellos' videos highlight both the musicians' classical and pop chops. Young Croatian cellists Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser often kick off concerts dressed in powdered wigs and clothing appropriate to Mozart's day. Things begin calmly enough. The audience is enjoying the performance when, suddenly, all hell breaks loose.

When Score, the new release from 2Cellos, showed up, I took it to the car to audition. I anticipated an audio explosion when I started the recording. Instead, I got lush melodies from both classic films (Cinema Paradiso, The Godfather, Breakfast at Tiffany's) and current favorites (Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings). When you wach the Game of Thrones video, you'll wonder how long before Šulić is in the cast.

All in all, if you have a young music lover or musician in your household, 2Cellos might be a nice introduction to a world beyond Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber.
