Starting November 5th, you’ll be hearing a new voice on the air; WOSU’s new Classical 101 Program Director, Cheryl Dring! In addition to taking on the role of Program Director, you can hear Ms. Dring on-air, Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Dring comes to Columbus with more than 30 years’ experience in classical public radio, having served as Program Director for stations in Dayton and Austin, along with past positions in California, Wisconsin, and Louisiana.
Her musical background is primarily as a vocalist; she completed her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at Louisiana State University, studying with the renowned Verdi soprano Martina Arroyo.
"It’s always so exciting to come to a new city and start to take in the music scene…trying to capture the essense or ‘vibe’ while exploring ways of weaving the station into that tapestry. Music has such power, not only to entertain us, but also to inspire and often transform us. What a wonderful thing to share on the radio every day."
We cannot wait for the new perspectives and artistic direction Cheryl will bring to the WOSU family and the Classical 101 station. Her ideas and energy are already appreciated around the office. Be sure to tune in and welcome our new Program Director, this Saturday morning for her first on-air shift in Columbus!
