You never know what will inspire a child to pursue their dreams or challenge themselves with a new goal. Playing music and singing with radio hosts and members of a fabulous chamber orchestra might do the trick, though.
Classical 101 hosts and staff spent this past Sunday laughing, crafting, and making musical memories with children of all ages during Youth and Family Day at COSI.
Boyce Lancaster narrated an orchestral work played by ProMusica, John Rittmeyer played classic children's hits on guitar, Jennifer Hambrick helped youngsters color and create, and even Christopher Purdy and I sang with a few brave hearts.
Our creative time was followed by a free concert given by ProMusica which included works such as "Danny Boy," and even the iconic, "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from Peer Gynt by Edvard Grieg.
Dozens of volunteers from Classical 101 and ProMusica are to thank for the good time had by all, as well as the event's sponsors. Keep your eyes peeled next year, and be sure not to miss it!
