Letter By Beethoven Comes to Light

A letter known from other sources to have been penned by Beethoven in 1823 - four years before his death - and involving the composer's Missa Solemnis has resurfaced after being bequeathed in a will, according to a story at the BBC News Web site bbc.co.uk. The BBC report says Beethoven's chronic financial and physical woes make appearances in the letter, in which Beethoven expressed his concerns that his medical needs required a larger income than he had at the time. In the letter Beethoven also asked harpist and composer Franz Anton Stockhausen for help finding buyers for his Missa Solemnis. A story on the Reuters.com Web site says the letter will be on display beginning next week at the Brahms Institute in Luebeck, Germany. Read more:
