As many of you know, our Music Director Beverley Ervine (full disclosure, also married to this reporter) and I have long been supporters of ProMusica Chamber Orchestra. Many of the staff, musicians, and supporters have become dear friends. Last night's season-opening concert at the Southern Theatre had a thread of duets and friends. Second on the program was a Peter Schickele piece entitled Six Studies for Clarinet and Bassoon. Our friends at ProMusica, along with many from WOSU and other Arts organizations in Central Ohio pooled inspiration and resources to commission this work from Schickele in honor of our 25th wedding anniversary. Principal Clarinet Bob Spring teamed with new Principal Bassoon Ellen Connors for Schickele's fun and moving piece. Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all of our friends from ProMusica and beyond for making this an unforgettable evening. It has been our honor to work with them for these many years and we look forward to many more wonderful evenings with ProMusica in the Southern Theatre. Speaking of that, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 & 13 is the next ProMusica Program. Respighi's Three Botticelli Pictures, Voices from the Gallery by Stephen Paulus, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 are on the program. One of ProMusica's conductor candidates, Eric Jacobsen, will be conducting that evening. We hope to see you there! I have included below a link to the review from last night's concert, as well as a link to Eric Jacobsen's homepage.
