In the two years since he became chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, Rocco Landesman has been trying to make the case that art is an effective linchpin to economic development.  The program, to be announced today and called ArtPlace, aims to integrate artists and arts groups into local efforts in transportation, housing, community development and job creation as an important tool of economic recovery. In the past few months, I have enjoyed reading articles on the world of music from down under.  Limelight Magazine is an online publication out of Sydney, Australia which has great articles and oftentimes unique takes on the classical music world.  Melissa Lesnie, one of their reporters, brought to my attention a 21st century look at the history of classical music...according to YouTube.
