New Release: Piano Music for Children

Are you a parent of very young kids?  Do you want your children to grow up appreciating classical music and also to get dressed without balking, get psyched for bath-time, and actually sleep through the night?  If so, have I got  a CD for you! Piano Music for Children has star power.  It's a collection of great music in digitally recorded performances of piano rolls created by some of the great pianists and composers. On this CD you'll hear Claude Debussy playing Debussy, George Gershwin playing Gershwin, and Percy Grainger, Rudolph Ganz, Myra Hess, Alfred Cortot and others performing music by Grieg, Offenbach, Saint-Saens, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Chopin, and Beethoven. But perhaps even more important, the tracks on the CD are organized to keep your child in line and engaged with music (and, of course, interacting with you) from wake-up time to bedtime. There are two selections ("Morning" from Grieg's Peer Gynt and Debussy's La plus que lente, titled "A Slow Waltz" on this collection) for "Waking Up." Music of Offenbach can accompany your child "Getting Dressed." ("Can you get dressed before the music ends," asks the CD cover.) You can dance (or "chase Mummy & Daddy around" to the music of Gershwin and Schubert.  Grieg, Saint-Saens, and Tchaikovsky can become a "Playtime" soundtrack.  Debussy's Goldfish can splash around in the tub at "Bathtime." And Faure, Chopin, and Beethoven can carry your child to la-la-land.
