Mass Incarceration: Ohio's Recidivism Rate

10 am

In the latest installment of our series on mass incarceration, we'll examine recidivism-- the rate at which prisoners return to prison. Ohio's rate is lower than the national average, which experts attribute to improved risk assessment, case management and transitional programs. We'll talk about what's working and what's not, this hour.

Guests:

  • Jason Bunting, warden at Marion Correctional Institution
  • Edward Latessa, creator of the Ohio Risk Assessment System; director of the School of Criminal Justice at Cincinnati University
  • C. Joseph Sprague, president of the Horizon Prison Initiative
  • Najumuddeen Salaam, program coordinator at Win Win Inc.; former Marion Correctional Institution inmate
