Mental Illness and the Justice System

10 am

In the US, ten times as many mentally ill people are housed in a prison or jail as in a hospital. But a new grant will invest in training for Ohio cops to recognize mental illness in ways that prevent needless arrests, and keep the mentally ill out of the prison system. We'll learn more this hour, and talk about how judges are embracing mental health court, and protecting the vulnerable.
