At-Risk Pregnant Women in the Developing World and in the U.S.

Today on All Sides with Ann Fisher we’ll hear powerful stories of the challenges faced by at-risk pregnant women in the developing world, with documentary filmmaker Christy Turlington Burns. The statistics can be staggering: 1000 women a day die from complications related to childbirth. Fashion icon Christy Turlington knows that but for excellent obstetrics team, she could have been a casualty after suffering a complication during the birth of her first child. The experience inspired Christy to learn more about the dangers of childbirth and how they’re managed - or not managed - around the world. Turlington has produced a new documentary - no woman, no child - on the topic. She wil be in town tomorrow for a screening of the film and a panel discussion afterward. She’s with us today to talk about the film and what she’s learned from producing it.
