Ohioans will have more time to get their state and federal taxes done this year. The deadline for filing and paying those has been delayed one month until May 17.

The Ohio Department of Taxation has moved the tax filing and payment deadline from April 15 to May 17 to provide relief to people affected by the pandemic. The state’s move comes a week after the Internal Revenue Service announced it was also moving the federal tax filing deadline.

Many state and regional taxes that are also due on April 15 will be extended if they are tied to the state’s tax schedule.

This is the second straight year the tax filing deadline has been moved due to COVID-19. Last year's deadline was shifted three months to July 15.
