Name That Tune originated in the 1950s, then returned in various forms in the '70s and '80s.

Some of you may remember a television program called Name That Tune. Contestants would "bid" against each other for the opportunity to win cash by naming a tune within a few notes.

You've heard the line, "I can name that tune in three notes." One complicating factor was that the notes were played on a piano!

I'm not going to make you work that hard, but I will give you only one second to name each tune in this contest.

FremantleMedia, which produces American Idol and The X Factor, acquired worldwide rights to Name That Tune a few years ago, so it may pop up yet again. There is also a phone app by the same name.

No matter what form or style of music it comes in, competitions like this are ongoing favorites.

Ready to give it a shot? Take a crack at Classic FM's version of the game. Some are a bit tricky, so don't move too fast!
