Opening statements began Monday in the trial of former state Rep. Pete Beck in Cincinnati. The 62-year-old certified public accountant from Mason waived his right to a jury trial, so a Hamilton County judge will determine the verdict.
Beck pleaded not guilty to more than 60 charges including felony theft and securities fraud.
He was indicted on 16 charges in 2013 and on more than 50 additional counts last year.
Beck resigned his House seat in November shortly before his term was scheduled to end. He lost his re-election bid last year when he was defeated in the Republican primary in May.
