Columbus Neighborhoods: Olde Towne East
Barons, bankers and brewers have made their home here since the 1830s. This recently revitalized area grew out of one of Columbus’ oldest streetcar neighborhoods. Varied and beautiful architectural history can still be seen today in Olde Towne East with ornately crafted homes that once belonged to renowned residents.

Columbus Neighborhoods: King-Lincoln
At its height in the 1930s, hundreds of people filled its bustling streets. The nation’s top musicians played its many theaters and clubs. African Americans of all walks of life lived and shopped there.
The documentary explores the area’s rich and vibrant music heritage and includes features on Elijah Pierce, Aminah Robinson, Roman Johnson, and other artists. The program also explores the neighborhood’s demise as the interstate separated it from the rest of the city and shows how the renovation of The Lincoln Theatre may be a sign of the community’s rebirth.

More than a department store, Lazarus became the place of milestones: first haircut, summer job, first bus ride alone, prom dress, interview suit. It’s even the place where countless men and women met—usually as workers in the store, though occasionally as customers—and became husband and wife.
The documentary, and this accompanying Web site, stands as a video scrapbook of the downtown store and features interviews with dozens of customers and former employees, many of them sharing photos and mementos.
