Officer Jamieson Ritter was shot while attempting to arrest a suspect who had a felonious assault warrant in a local suburb. He died at the hospital.

The Cleveland office of the FBI is investigating several Cleveland police detectives and their direct supervisor for “inappropriate conduct.” The city of Cleveland released a statement saying the alleged misconduct was found after an internal investigation.

Emanuel Franklin, whose son Desmond was killed by a Cleveland police officer on April 9, 2020, said Monday he hopes the lawsuit his family filed in Cuyahoga County leads to a prison sentence for the officer, who was not disciplined by the city and not indicted by a county grand jury.
