Ohio high school athletes may soon be able to capitalize on their name, image and likeness under a proposal that mirrors changes made at the collegiate level less than a year ago.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced Tuesday that member high school principals will vote on 14 potential changes to the organization's constitution and bylaws.

Among them is Issue 12B, which, if adopted, would allow student-athletes to sign endorsement agreements so long as their teams, schools, or the OHSAA logo are not used.

There is also a prohibition against endorsements for companies that do not support the mission of education-based athletics, such as gambling, alcohol, drugs or tobacco.

Member schools are set to vote on the changes next month.

If adopted, the resolution would take effect May 16.
