Creating a public art plan for Columbus

Deer sculpture on the Scioto Mile
WOSU

This episode originally aired on July 18, 2023.

From sculptures of corn to statues of deer to murals cascading down the sides of buildings - public art is everywhere in Central Ohio.

But of the 14 largest cities in the country, Columbus is the only one without a public art plan. That could be changing soon.

The Greater Columbus Arts Council has announced a year-long initiative to launch a public art plan. The plan isn’t only limited to Columbus – it will also encompass Franklin County.

We’ll explore the planning process, the goals of the program and what it’ll mean for local artists.
