The credit bureau Equifax has agreed to pay up to $650 million to resolve its major data breach from 2017 that exposed the personal information of around 147 million Americans.
The breach exposed dates of birth, social security numbers, addresses, and more sensitive information to hackers. Individual victims can claim as much as $20,000 in compensation if they prove they were harmed.
