The Gateway Film Center will be showing free movies Wednesday and Thursday to those wanting to beat the heat.
The movies will be shown from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Popcorn and soda are also included.
The center at 1550 N. High St. will be showing the following films: "Tuesday," "The Bad Guys," "Jurassic Park," Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," "Matilda," "The Fall Guy," "Shrek," "The Grab" (Wednesday only), and "Resistance: They Fought Back" (Wednesday only).
Columbus City Council will spend up to $15,000 to pay for the movies so people can stay cool during the heat wave.
"We've done this in the past," Columbus City Council spokesman Jose Rodriguez said. "We do this to provide people with an extra facility. People need options."
