One of the two men convicted for participating in the kidnapping, robbery and murder of Muslim imam Mohamed Hassan Adam was sentenced Thursday to spend at least 73 years in prison, with a maximum term of life behind bars.
In October, John Wooden Jr. was found guilty of aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.
On Tuesday, Wooden's co-defendant Isaiah Brown-Miller, who was also convicted, was given a prison sentence of 26 to 31 years.
Adam was an imam at the Masjid Abu Hurairah mosque in Columbus and a leader in the local Muslim and Somali communities.
Officials say Wooden, a Columbus resident, kidnapped, robbed and fatally shot Adam on Dec. 22, 2021, in a vacant lot in Columbus’ South Linden neighborhood.
