Another family member testified today in the murder trial of former Mount Carmel doctor William Husel. Husel is charged with murdering 14 patients by prescribing fatal doses of painkillers.
Prosecutor David Zeyen questioned Lisa Hayes, the sister of Ryan Hayes who died April 4, 2017.
During the trial, Zeyen asked Hayes, "Did you observe anything that would indicate to you that your brother even when at this point of his hospitalization, that he needed pain medication or something to calm him down?"
"No not at all because like I said the whole time he was there, he was non-responsive. He didn't respond to anything," Hayes responded.
On cross-examination, defense attorney Diane Menashe probed Hayes about her memory on whether she was in the room when nurses extubated her brother. Hayes responded saying she could not remember her statement to police in 2019 and that she was not in the room during the procedure.
Husel has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
