Two people were taken to the hospital after a shooting Monday morning in a downtown Columbus parking garage.
The incident happened just after 9:30 in the Franklin County parking garage on East Fulton Street.
Officials with the Franklin County Sheriff's office say three deputies and an officer with another agency arrived on the seventh floor of the parking garage and found two men and a woman involved in an altercation, the woman screaming for help.
As the officers tried to break up the situation, officials say they came under attack as well, and at least one shot was fired.
The woman and one of the men were taken to Grant Medical Center for treatment. The man was said to be in critical condition, while the woman's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
"At 9:30 in the morning, pretty busy time in the parking garage. A lot of people are coming and going, to court or other business here downtown," said Chief Deputy Rick Minerd.
"A woman starts yelling for help and officers run to try to provide that assistance, and the next thing you know, we have a shot fired. So yeah, scary," said Minerd.
Minerd said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been asked to step in and treat this as an officer-involved shooting, although it is not believed any of the officers fired shots.
