Kenyon College, a small Ohio liberal arts college in Knox County, has announced a $100 million gift from an anonymous donor.

The school in Gambier said the donation, the biggest in school history, will fund three new residence halls. Kenyon requires on-campus living for students, and says the gift allows it to continue a focus on a residential experience despite the coronavirus pandemic disruption.

College president Sean Decatur says the donation will also allow the school to renew fundraising efforts to increase Kenyon's endowment for scholarships and financial aid. Kenyon has an enrollment of 1,730 students.

Kenyon also received a $75 million anonymous donation in 2017.
