Dozens of homes in northeast Columbus had to be evacuated early Tuesday as flood waters swept into the neighborhood.Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin says about 100 people had to flee 56 homes near the intersection of Stormcroft Avenue and Cooper Road near Westerville.
“Nobody is injured. We did have one person who’s normally pretty sedentary and on oxygen. That patient had some difficulty breathing after the exertion of climbing in and out of a boat, so that patient was taken to St. Ann’s Hospital.”
Martin declined to speculate on the extent of the damage to homes.
“We’re trying to keep an eye on it. While we’re not really seeing the water continue to go up, I’m not really seeing it go down at this point,” Martin said around 7:15 am.
A flash flooding remains in effect for all of Central Ohio and most of the rest of the state until 8 pm Tuesday.
